Čigoč village is recognized as a European Stork Village, with numerous nests crowning the rooftops of traditional wooden houses that shape the everyday landscape. The storks have become deeply rooted in local identity and daily rhythms.
The area can be explored on foot, by bicycle, or by boat, with guided tours available year-round for observing birds and wildlife. Walking or cycling provides the best way to experience the natural rhythm of the landscape at a slower pace.
Approximately 12,000 hectares of pastureland are managed by native cattle breeds using traditional grazing methods that date back to the 19th century and continue to shape the landscape. These cattle play an invisible but crucial role in maintaining the ecological balance of the area.
