Ložišća

Ložišća is a small settlement in Milna positioned on a steep hillside at about 74 meters elevation. Stone houses with south-facing walls are arranged along sloping streets that follow the natural contours of the terrain.

The settlement formed in the 18th century when people moved here from Bobovišće. The parish church was completed in 1820, marking a significant moment in the community's development.

Residents have cultivated vineyards and olive groves across terraced hillsides carved from the karst landscape for centuries. These farming practices still shape how the place looks and how people interact with the land today.

The location is accessible by road from other parts of the region. The terrain is hilly with narrow pathways, so comfortable walking shoes are helpful for exploring the streets.

Every house has a north-facing entrance carved into the hillside that leads directly into the living spaces. This design choice allowed people to use more land for growing crops and raising animals instead of needing flat ground for doors.
