Šoderica, Lake in Croatia
Šoderica is an artificial lake in the Drenje and Legrad area, formed from gravel extraction and fed by underground water connected to the nearby Drava River. The water body spans several hectares in the flat terrain of northern Croatia.
This lake formed in the 1800s as a result of gravel mining operations that continued for many years and shaped the region's landscape. The creation of this water body emerged from industrial activity that later became a recreational destination.
The site hosts summer concerts, photography exhibitions, and beach volleyball tournaments that draw people of all ages. Local communities use the shores for outdoor gatherings and nature-focused workshops.
Visitors will find developed beaches, walking trails, and picnic areas ready for use. Safety services and lifeguards are available during the main summer months for swimming and water activities.
During winter months, this water body becomes a refuge for many swans that attract birdwatchers and families. This seasonal gathering of these birds is an overlooked feature that visitors discover during colder periods.
