Golden Cape, Forest park in Rovinj, Croatia
Golden Cape, also known as Zlatni rt, is a protected forest park along the coast of Rovinj, Croatia. Its paths wind through pines, cypresses, and exotic trees, connecting the inland forest to small rocky bays.
In the late 19th century, Georg Hütterott from Trieste bought the land and shaped it into a garden park inspired by English landscape design. After his death in 1910, the site continued to be maintained and was given protected status in 1948, then officially recognized as a forest park in 1961.
The park is reachable on foot from Rovinj's town center and is well suited for walking, cycling, and swimming. Summer months bring many visitors, while spring and autumn offer a quieter experience.
In front of the meadow called Punta Corrente, Himalayan cedar trees are planted in a star shape. Hütterott also brought back trees from his travels, including Ginkgo biloba and Lebanese cedar, which still stand among the local pines today.
