Premonstratensian monastery, Csorna, Monastery museum in Csorna, Hungary
The Premonstratensian monastery complex features a prominent north facade and a southern gate, constructed in late Baroque architectural style between 1802 and 1808.
The monastery traces its origins to 1180 when the first Premonstratensian monks established their presence in Csorna, forming a center for religious activities.
The monastery houses the Csornai Helytörténeti Gyűjtemény museum, established in 1969, containing exhibitions about regional traditions and historical developments.
The monastery museum occupies 130 square meters on the ground floor, displaying artifacts and documents that detail the history of Csorna and its surroundings.
During the Hungarian Revolution of 1848-49, a Premonstratensian canon from this monastery participated actively in the resistance movement against Habsburg rule.
