Abbey church of St James

The Abbey Church of St James is a Romanesque parish church in Lébény with twin towers and solid stone construction throughout its structure. Its exterior displays characteristic rounded windows, decorative stonework, and architectural detailing typical of early medieval design.

The church was built in 1208 during the Árpád dynasty as a spiritual center for the region. Over the following centuries, it endured military threats and attacks that affected much of Hungary.

The church continues to serve as a place of worship and gathering for the local community, while its rounded arches and stone walls visibly reflect its medieval monastic origins and enduring spiritual purpose.
