Boldogkő Castle

Boldogkő Castle is a stone fortress standing on a 245-meter-high hill, featuring remaining walls, towers, and wooden walkways along the ridge. The site includes several sections connected by paths and platforms that offer different views across the surrounding landscape.

The fortress was founded in 1280 and passed from the Tomaj clan to King Ladislaus IV, remaining under royal control until the Árpád Dynasty's end. This transition marked a shift in the castle's role within the region's power structure.

The castle houses one of Central Europe's largest tin soldier exhibitions, with detailed miniatures recreating important Hungarian military moments. Visitors can explore these carefully crafted displays while learning about the region's past through this unusual collection.

A wooden bridge provides access to the castle, and visitors can explore both the lower and upper sections of the site. A medieval-style restaurant on the grounds offers refreshments during your visit.

The Lion's Rock section features a 20-meter-high knife-edge ridge with an observation platform offering sweeping views of the plains below. This dramatic setting makes it one of the most memorable parts of the site.
