Museum of the Hungarian Language

The Museum of the Hungarian Language exhibits historical documents, linguistic artifacts, and interactive displays that detail the development of Hungarian linguistics over centuries.

The museum stands on the former property of Ferenc Kazinczy, who lived there from 1806 to 1831 while working to reform and modernize the Hungarian language.

Ten exhibitions within the museum present the Hungarian language through diverse media, including three permanent displays featuring original artifacts and comprehensive language information.

The museum includes an auditorium with 100 seats, hosts interactive lectures, workshops for different age groups, and remains closed on Mondays.

This specialized linguistic institution, opened in 2008, represents the only museum in Hungary dedicated to examining and preserving the native language.
