Megyer-hegyi Tarn, Protected lake in Sárospatak, Hungary.
The Megyer-hegyi Tarn consists of a water-filled rock basin surrounded by vertical walls reaching 70 meters, with a depth of 6.5 meters.
From the 15th century until 1907, the location functioned as a millstone quarry, where miners extracted rhyolitic tuff for stone manufacturing.
Miners created small residences within the rock formations, and their unfinished millstones remain visible around the quarry site today.
Visitors can reach the tarn through multiple hiking trails from Tokaj-Hegyalja vineyards, with a narrow passage leading directly to the water.
The site features Hungary's longest via ferrata system, complete with rope bridges and educational paths showing 17 different geological formations.
