Geographical centre of Hungary, Geographic location in Pusztavacs, Hungary.

The Geographical centre of Hungary is located in Pusztavacs, within the boundaries of the Danube-Ipoly National Park. An octagonal pyramid monument marks the exact center point of the country.

The site was officially established in 1978 when architect József Kerényi designed the monument. After a fire destroyed it in 2001, the structure was completely rebuilt in 2004.

A memorial here honors the thirteen martyrs of Arad, and nearby you can see ruins of a 15th-century church. These places tell the story of this region's past and invite quiet reflection.

The location lies roughly 35 kilometers from Budapest and is reachable via several routes. The area offers hiking paths through protected nature, making it suitable for day trips.

The monument has a distinctive shape: it is an octagonal pyramid that stands apart from typical memorials. This unusual design was chosen to mark the country's center point in a memorable way.
