Schossberger Castle

Schossberger Castle is a three-story Renaissance Revival residence in Tura with a central clock tower, symmetrical wings, and Italian-style decorative elements throughout. The building sits within a 10-hectare park and was comprehensively renovated in 2020 to operate as a luxury hotel with over 100 rooms and conference facilities.

Baron Sigmund Schossberger commissioned architect Gyula Bukovics in 1873 to design this residence, with construction finishing by 1883. The building emerged during a period of expanding Hungarian industrial wealth and entrepreneurial success.

The castle embodies the prosperity of Hungarian industrial magnates in the late 1800s through its grand design and refined appointments. The rooms reflect the wealth and sophistication that a prominent family of that era wanted to display.

The location is easily accessible by car with ample parking on the grounds, making arrival straightforward. The expansive gardens allow visitors to explore the estate at their own pace without feeling rushed.

The castle features an ingenious system of mirrors and transom windows that flood the entrance hall with natural light. This clever engineering reveals the technical skill that builders of that era applied to interior design.
