Batthyány-Strattmann Mansion, Intaháza, Neoclassical château and hospital in Intaháza, Hungary.
The Batthyány-Strattmann Mansion is a neoclassical residence that operates as a hospital in Intaháza village. The rectangular structure features Tuscan columns, a central balcony, and a symmetrical facade with striped pilasters at the corners.
The residence began construction before 1762 under the direction of Ádám Vencel Batthyány-Strattmann, who oversaw the project through his own architectural office. Archaeological digs from 1939 to 1941 revealed artifacts from the 14th century, which are now displayed at the Hungarian National Museum.
The mansion takes its name from the noble Batthyány-Strattmann family who shaped the property from its origins. Visitors can observe today how historical rooms serve therapeutic purposes, keeping the past of this place alive.
The building operates today as a rehabilitation center for addiction treatment and psychiatric care, continuing its role as a medical facility. Visitors should know that this is an active healthcare institution, and access may be limited to certain areas.
Inside the residence, rooms are used by the Hungarian Music Therapy Association for its therapeutic programs. This blend of historical space and modern therapeutic practice makes the place an unusual example of how noble estates are being repurposed today.
