Lajos-forrás, Natural spring in Visegrád Mountains, Hungary.
Lajos-forrás emerges from Bölcső-hegy mountain at 587 meters elevation and forms part of the hiking network in the Szentendre region. The spring feeds into Jóvízű-patak creek and can be accessed via marked trails through the surrounding woodland.
The spring took its name from Baron Podmaniczky Lajos, the landowner, when the Hungarian Tourist Association built a stone pool there in 1908. This development turned it into a recognized stop for hikers during the region's early tourism era.
Serbian settlers in the early 18th century called this water source Dobrá voda, a name that influenced the later Hungarian term Jóvíz-dűlő. The site preserves this linguistic heritage from its earliest residents.
The spring is accessible via Route 1114 from Szentendre, where a large bus turnaround serves visitors arriving by different means of transport. The stone pool design allows hikers to collect water in containers, though consumption is at each visitor's discretion.
The name Jóvízű-patak, meaning good water, reveals how deeply this spring was valued by local people across centuries. The creek's name itself is a testament to the water source's importance in the daily lives of communities living in these mountains.
