Tayan Bridge, Road bridge across Kapuas River in Sanggau Regency, Indonesia.
Tayan Bridge is a road bridge that spans the Kapuas River in Sanggau Regency, connecting the towns of Tayan and Piasak. It features three traffic lanes with an eleven-meter width and stretches approximately two kilometers across the water.
Construction began in September 2012 and was completed in February 2016, followed by an official opening ceremony led by President Joko Widodo. The project formed part of broader efforts to improve transport connections between West and Central Borneo.
The bridge replaced two small ferries that connected Tayan and Piasak, transforming how local communities travel along the Kapuas River. It enabled people to move more quickly and changed daily routines for those who depend on this crossing.
The bridge forms part of the Trans-Kalimantan Highway and stands roughly thirteen meters above the water level during high tides. Travelers should know this is a continuous thoroughfare without intermediate stopping points along its length.
The construction was primarily financed through Chinese loans and executed by the China Road and Bridge Corporation. This international partnership brought significant infrastructure investment to the region.
