Buncrana, Coastal town in County Donegal, Ireland
Buncrana extends along the shores of Lough Swilly on the Inishowen peninsula, 23 kilometers northwest of Derry and 43 kilometers north of Letterkenny.
The settlement relocated south of River Crana when George Vaughan constructed the main street in 1718, marking the beginning of modern Buncrana.
The annual Buncrana Music & Arts Festival presents numerous performers at venues throughout the town, bringing together local and visiting musicians.
Three secondary schools serve the educational needs of the population: Crana College, Scoil Mhuire, and Coláiste Chineal Eoghain.
Buncrana became the first town in County Donegal to receive electric power in October 1905, with electricity generated at Swan Mill.
