Jerpoint Abbey, Cistercian abbey in County Kilkenny, Ireland.
The monastery features a square tower, multiple chapels, and extensive stone carvings depicting religious figures, knights, and nobles throughout its walls and tombs.
Founded in 1180 by King Domnall Mac Gilla Patraic of Osraige, the abbey operated until 1541 when Henry VIII granted it to James Butler during monastery dissolutions.
The abbey contains detailed medieval tomb sculptures, including the effigy of Felix O'Dulany, Bishop of Ossory, which became a pilgrimage destination in Ireland.
The site includes a visitor center with exhibitions and operates from March to December, offering guided tours and educational programs for children.
Local traditions indicate that the nearby settlement of Newtown Jerpoint contains the final resting place of Saint Nicholas, transferred from Bari, Italy.
