Dysart Castle, Medieval castle ruins near Thomastown, Ireland
The stone structure features remaining large windows on its upper story and stands alongside the River Nore with a church located 21 feet away.
Dating from the 14th century, Dysart Castle belonged to Kells Priory from 1200 until 1540, when it transferred to the Butler family during monastery dissolution.
The castle gained recognition as the childhood residence of philosopher George Berkeley, whose name now graces institutions in California and Trinity College Dublin.
The deteriorating structure requires substantial restoration work to prevent further decay of its medieval architectural elements and historical features.
Local records indicate the site's value increased from minimal worth to five pounds within a century, marking substantial development of the property.
