The interior features oak bookcases arranged in two long galleries, displaying over 25,000 volumes and 300 manuscripts from various centuries.

Archbishop Narcissus Marsh established this institution in 1707, making it the first public library in Ireland through an act of Parliament.

The library maintains collections from notable scholars, including texts from Bishop Edward Stillingfleet and Huguenot refugee Dr. Elias Bouhereau.

The library opens Tuesday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with admission fees of €7 for adults.

The building contains reading cages where readers were locked to prevent book theft, maintaining this feature from its original 18th-century design.
