St. Peter's Church, Aungier Street, Dublin, Church building in Aungier Street, Dublin, Ireland

St. Peter's Church once stood at its 1685 location on Aungier Street, where the Dublin YMCA building now occupies what was the religious site. The structure underwent several rebuilds, including a Georgian renovation by Michael Wills between 1750 and 1752, before the property was redeveloped entirely during the 1980s.

The church was built on former Whitefriars land and dates from 1685. Over the centuries, major transformations reshaped the building to fit changing styles and community needs.

The churchyard welcomed both parish members and Huguenot refugees as burial places until 1883, showing how different religious communities lived alongside each other in Dublin. This mix of people reveals the open-minded character the neighborhood once had.

The site is no longer accessible as a church since modern buildings now occupy the land. Visitors can explore the history of this location through plaques or markers on Aungier Street.

Arthur Wellesley, who would become the Duke of Wellington, received his baptism here in 1769. This event connected one of Britain's most influential military leaders to this now-vanished religious site in Dublin.
