Sculpture in the Parklands

Sculpture in the Parklands is an outdoor art park on 50 acres of restored peatland with large-scale installations set within the natural landscape. The site features roughly twenty artworks of varying types, from metal structures to earth-based forms, arranged across the recovered terrain.

The park began in 2002 following an international sculpture symposium where artists created permanent installations during a three-week stay. This event marked the start of transforming the abandoned peatland site into an art and nature destination.

The artworks here tell the story of how an industrial site was transformed through creative vision and environmental thinking. Visitors can observe how the sculptures relate to the recovered landscape and what the restored land now represents to the community.

The site is free to visit throughout the year and located between Tullamore and Birr in County Offaly. There is designated parking for visitors, and the grounds are accessible on foot with wide paths connecting the main artworks.

Many of the artworks were created using materials salvaged from the former peat harvesting operations that once dominated the site. This approach transforms the industrial past into creative expression and makes the site's history part of the art itself.
