Cathedral Church of St. Fachtna, Anglican cathedral in Rosscarbery, County Cork, Ireland
The Cathedral Church of St. Fachtna stands as the smallest cathedral in Ireland, featuring a cruciform layout with Gothic and Georgian architectural elements.
The cathedral site traces back to the sixth century when St. Fachtna established a monastic settlement that became the main monastery of West Cork.
The cathedral maintains an active music program with regular choir performances, organ recitals, and workshops for musicians from across the Diocese.
Visitors can observe the bell ringers in action from the tower gallery, which remains the single example of such a feature in Irish cathedrals.
The building underwent numerous transformations, including serving as a slaughterhouse following damage during the Catholic Rebellion of 1641.
