Meehambee Dolmen, Neolithic portal tomb in County Roscommon, Ireland.

Meehambee Dolmen is a Neolithic stone burial structure with six upright megaliths supporting a massive capstone weighing around 24 tonnes. The monument sits at a forest edge and displays the typical portal design used for these prehistoric graves.

The structure dates to around 3500 BC and came to archaeological attention through stone tools found by children in the 1960s near the site. Investigations confirmed its Neolithic origins and use as a burial place.

The name reflects local Irish heritage, with the site historically called Leabaidh Éirn in the 1930s and remaining part of the region's archaeological identity. These structures held meaning as burial or ceremonial places for the communities who built them.

Access is via a bridle path starting from Bellanamullia village near the R362 road, situated on the western side of Athlone. Sturdy footwear is recommended since the route crosses woodland and open ground.

The rear support stone has collapsed, causing the massive capstone to shift from its original horizontal position at an angle. This tilted arrangement gives the monument a distinctive appearance compared to most other dolmens across Ireland.
