Moorstown Castle

The circular tower house features four stories with a spiral staircase, multiple musket loops, and a fortified limestone gatehouse providing residential space for guards.

James Keating constructed the castle in the late 15th century, and Robert Cox acquired it through a mortgage agreement in 1635 before it passed to the Greene family.

The castle's cylindrical design differs from traditional Irish architecture, representing a departure from the rectangular tower houses common throughout the country.

Located 6 miles west of Clonmel, visitors can reach Moorstown Castle by taking a small road that branches off the main route between Clonmel and Cahir.

The third floor of the castle contained a dovecote for housing pigeons, while the protective walled courtyard, known as a bawn, was constructed before the main tower.
