Raghtin More

Raghtin More is a mountain peak in County Donegal rising to about 502 meters, with steep slopes and rocky outcrops scattered across its terrain. The landscape shows varied elevations and exposed stone formations that define the walk to the top.

The mountain carries traces of human settlement, including megalithic structures at its summit that point to activities spanning several centuries. These ancient remains show that people have valued this location for a very long time.

Locals call this peak Reachtain Mhór in the Irish language, reflecting the Gaelic heritage of the Inishowen area. You will see this name on signs and hear it spoken by people throughout the region.

Hikers can start from several points, including Urrismenagh viewpoint and the Mamore Gap car park. Sturdy footwear and proper gear are needed to handle the steep sections safely.

The peak stands out with a prominence of about 407 meters, making it the third highest point on the Inishowen Peninsula. From the top, views stretch across Lough Swilly toward the coastal landscape of Malin Head.
