Tesco Donabate Distribution Centre, Distribution center in Donabate, Ireland

Tesco Donabate Distribution Centre is a long, low warehouse with a flat roofline and a pale grey-blue facade, set behind a dark hedge in Donabate, Fingal. A red sign reading TESCO in white capitals marks the right side of the visible frontage, with tall metal streetlights standing before it. Inside, the building is laid out in 87 aisles of 31 bays, each 12.3 metres tall.

Tesco developed the centre in 2007 at a cost of €60 million and immediately sold it for €120 million in a sale and leaseback to a KPMG-assembled consortium. The land had formed part of Newbridge Demesne. It was sold to a South African property fund for €129 million in 2014, then to South Korea's KTB Investments & Securities and KTB Asset Management for €160 million in 2019.

The distribution center employs over 600 staff members from local communities, fostering a workplace environment centered on equality, diversity, and team collaboration.

The centre sits in Fingal, in the traditional County Dublin, close to the M1 motorway, which carries its lorry traffic. It is a working warehouse rather than a shop, so there is no public access or visitor entrance; the pale facade and red TESCO sign are seen from outside, behind a dark hedge.

The site was part of Newbridge Demesne before construction. Staff use arm-mounted terminals to track productivity, a practice criticised in the media in 2013. The building holds 76,000 pallets across 87 aisles of 31 bays, each 12.3 metres tall.
