Melkite Greek Catholic Archeparchy of Akka

The Melkite Greek Catholic Archeparchy oversees thirty-seven parishes across Galilee, with its headquarters and cathedral located in the city of Haifa.

In 1753, Patriarch Cyril VI Tanas restored the Melkite diocese as part of the episcopal province of Tyre, marking a new chapter in its development.

Services in this archeparchy follow the Byzantine Rite and are conducted in Arabic, reflecting the heritage of local Christian communities in northern Israel.

The archeparchy extends its religious services to multiple cities including Jerusalem, Tel Aviv-Jaffa, Ramleh, Lod, Acre, and Nof HaGalil.

As of 2022, this archeparchy serves 73,921 baptized members, representing the largest Christian denomination in Israel with 60% of the country's Christians.
