Rehovot

Rehovot is a city in the Central District of Israel, located about 20 kilometers south of Tel Aviv. Residential neighborhoods spread between research facilities and parks along wide streets lined with trees and low-rise buildings.

Jewish settlers from Poland founded the settlement in 1890 as an agricultural community. Citrus orchards formed the economic base before scientific institutions transformed the character of the place in the mid-20th century.

The city takes its name from a biblical well that means wide spaces or room. Scientific life shapes the daily rhythm through researchers and students from around the world who work in labs and walk between campus buildings.

The railway station connects the city with Tel Aviv through regular train services that run frequently during the day. Buses travel through residential areas and stop near research facilities and commercial districts.

The location hosts a faculty of Hebrew University that focuses on agricultural research. The facility develops methods for crop cultivation and tests new varieties under local growing conditions.
