Petah-Tikva Footbridge, Pedestrian bridge in Petah Tikva, Israel.
The Petah-Tikva Footbridge is a metal structure spanning Jabotinski Street, supported by a central mast from which curved lines extend upward. It connects the Rabin Medical Center with a shopping mall and municipal park on the opposite side of the busy street.
The bridge was built to improve Petah Tikva's rapidly expanding infrastructure and better connect different public areas in the city center. The project was part of a broader modernization effort as the city transformed from its early days as an agricultural colony into a modern urban center.
Santiago Calatrava designed this bridge to complement the adjacent Rabin Medical Center, adding architectural value to the healthcare district.
Access is straightforward from both sides and the bridge is easily walkable from the medical center, shopping mall, and park. Visitors should expect the area to be busier during peak hours, especially when people commute between these locations.
The metal framework and curved design create shifting patterns of light and shadow throughout the day that change based on the sun's position. This visual dynamism makes each crossing feel different, especially during early morning or late afternoon hours.
