Avraham Shapira's House, Heritage building in Petah Tikva, Israel.

The house at 20 Herzl Street is a two-story stone building with thick walls built during the settlement's early years. Its interior remains in its original condition, featuring painted walls and a collection of tank traps and other objects from the early defensive period.

Avraham Shapira built this house in the early 1900s while leading security operations for the young settlement of Petah Tikva. The building was donated to the municipality in 1965 to preserve the memory of that foundational era.

The house displays how early settlers furnished and lived in their homes during the founding years. You see furniture and everyday items from that period, giving a sense of daily life in a new community.

The building is easily reached from the street, though the indoor stairs can be steep and require some effort to climb. It is worth checking ahead about opening hours, as visits are sometimes arranged for groups or specific occasions.

The weapons displayed in the courtyard come from different phases of defense and show how settlers protected themselves against attacks. Some of these items are rarely seen elsewhere and offer a direct view into the daily dangers that early settlers faced.
