Tel Juhader

Tel Juhader is a volcanic summit in the southeastern Golan Heights rising to 646 meters (2,119 feet) above sea level. The landscape shows layers of lava and hardened stone that define this geologically active region.

The mountain witnessed millennia of territorial changes, from ancient civilizations through Ottoman control to modern times. Its elevated position made it strategically important for different rulers throughout history.

The summit carries different names across languages, known as Givat Orha in Hebrew and Tel Juhader in Arabic. This linguistic duality reflects the long coexistence of different communities in the region.

The summit is accessible through marked trails suitable for hiking and close observation of the volcanic formations. Spring and autumn offer the most pleasant conditions for visiting and exploring the surroundings.

From the summit, clear views extend over the fertile Hula Valley with its fields and water bodies. This vista reveals how the volcanic soil composition directly supports agriculture across the wider landscape.
