Ma'ayan HaChinuch HaTorani, Religious education organization in Jerusalem, Israel
Ma'ayan HaChinuch HaTorani is an educational organization operating roughly 130 schools throughout Israel with a focus on religious instruction and Torah studies. These schools combine religious education with standard academic subjects required by the Israeli education system.
Rabbi Ben Zion Abba Shaul founded the organization in 1984 to strengthen the educational framework for Sephardi Jewish children in Israel. Several of its former leaders have later assumed important positions within Israeli government.
The organization preserves traditional Sephardi Jewish teachings in its curriculum while adapting them with modern educational approaches. This helps students maintain their cultural identity while gaining contemporary knowledge in their studies.
The schools teach religious studies alongside the academic subjects required by Israel's education authorities. The curriculum follows national education standards while maintaining a focus on religious instruction.
Rabbi Moshe Maya leads the organization as secretary general, continuing the educational vision while former leaders have advanced to positions in Israeli government.
