Medak district, Administrative district in Telangana, India
The district spans over 9,699 square kilometers at an elevation of 635 meters, with Sangareddy Mandal serving as its administrative capital.
The region, formerly named Gulshanabad, belonged to the Nizam princely state before becoming part of Hyderabad State until 1956.
The population follows multiple religions with Hinduism at 92%, Islam at 6.76%, and Christianity at less than 1% according to census data.
The district contains three revenue divisions - Medak, Narsapur, and Toopran - which are subdivided into 21 mandals encompassing 381 villages.
Archaeological findings at Edithanur and Wargal village hillocks reveal Neolithic and Megalithic settlements through rock paintings and ancient artifacts.
