Medak district

Medak district is an administrative region in Telangana covering approximately 9,700 square kilometers at an elevation of around 635 meters. The territory is organized into three revenue divisions and 21 mandals that oversee about 381 villages across the landscape.

The region was formerly called Gulshanabad and belonged to the Nizam's princely state before becoming part of Hyderabad State in 1956. This transition marked a major shift in the area's political structure and administration.

The region is predominantly Hindu, with communities practicing their faith through temples and local celebrations that shape daily life. Visitors can observe this religious identity reflected in the architecture and customs visible throughout the villages and towns.

The hillsides near Edithanur and Wargal contain remains from Neolithic and Megalithic periods, including rock paintings and ancient artifacts. These locations reveal that human settlement in this area extends back thousands of years.
