Nellore

Nellore is a river town along the Penna in Andhra Pradesh, serving as a trade and farming center. The surrounding countryside is marked by rice paddies and sugarcane fields, while the downtown holds markets and residential neighborhoods.

Different rulers governed the town over centuries, including the Chola and Vijayanagara dynasties. In the 18th century it became part of the British Madras Presidency.
