DY Patil Stadium, Cricket and football stadium in Nerul, India
DY Patil Stadium is a multi-purpose sports venue in Nerul, Navi Mumbai, India, used for both cricket and football. The structure features individual seating under roofs that extend across the spectator areas without supporting columns below.
The venue opened in early March 2008 and hosted the final match of the first Indian Premier League season later that spring. Since then, the grounds have welcomed several major national and international sporting competitions.
Local cricket clubs and football academies hold training sessions here throughout the week, bringing young athletes to practice on professional-grade grounds. On match days, families from across the metropolitan area fill the stands with team colors and chants.
Visitors can reach the grounds by train from Nerul or Juinagar stations, both within walking distance of the entrances. Several bus lines connect the area to different parts of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
In 2013, over 51,000 people gathered here for a coordinated health awareness campaign that set a world record. The event used the full seating capacity for a single educational program.
