The Air Force Academy is a military aviation training facility in Dundigal, India, covering 2,850 hectares. Training grounds, classrooms, accommodation blocks and flight simulators sit at an elevation of 614 meters.
President Zakir Hussain laid the foundation stone in 1967, and operations began in January 1971. The site was created to train officers for the Indian Air Force and meet the growing need for pilots.
Since June 1993, the institution has trained female cadets, opening military aviation careers to women. Officers from different nations learn together, sharing perspectives during their daily routines.
Training covers several stages and prepares cadets to fly different aircraft types, from fighters to transport planes. Visitors need authorization since this is a military site.
