Meenmutty Falls, Waterfall in Wayanad District, Kerala, India
Water cascades over three tiers of rocks from a height of 300 meters, forming the largest waterfall system in Kerala's Wayanad region.
The name originates from ancient local fishing practices where the surrounding pools served as natural fish traps in the Western Ghats mountains.
Local tribes maintain traditional fishing methods in the pools beneath the falls, using handwoven nets and sustainable catching techniques passed through generations.
Visitors need to complete a 2-kilometer forest trek from Meppadi village to reach the falls, requiring sturdy footwear and water supplies.
During monsoon season, the water flow creates three distinct falls that remain separated until reaching the natural pool at the bottom.
