Our Lady of Lourde's Church

Our Lady of Lourde's Church at Pallikkunnu is a white stone building with classical colonial features including high ceilings, tall windows, and a central pointed spire. Inside, the layout is simple with pews facing the altar and a calm, reverent feeling throughout the space.

Father Jefreno from France founded this place of worship in 1908 as one of the earliest Catholic structures in northern Kerala. The building was constructed during a time when the region had very few Christian institutions.

The church serves as a gathering place for the local Catholic community during celebrations and daily worship. You can sense how important it is to the people who live nearby and come here to pray.

The church is located about 14 kilometers from Kalpetta and stays open throughout the day for visitors. Regular services happen in Malayalam and Tamil, so you should expect to encounter these languages during your visit.

The church attracts large crowds annually, especially during the February celebrations when believers travel from distant places to gather here. This period becomes the most important spiritual occasion for both travelers and the local community.
