Soochipara Falls, Waterfall in Wayanad district, India

Soochipara Falls is a waterfall in Wayanad district that drops from approximately 200 meters in three distinct stages through dense forest. The water cascades down through the mountain forests of the Western Ghats, creating multiple pools at different levels.

The name Soochipara comes from the Malayalam words soochi (needle) and para (rock), referring to the needle-like rocks at the falls. The waterfall is also called Sentinel Rock Waterfalls, a name used since at least the 20th century. Its water joins the Chulika River, also known as the Chaliyar, after passing the Vellarimala Hills near Cherambadi in Tamil Nadu.

Visitors today see the falls from viewing platforms built at the site.

From the parking area, visitors pass a security check at the entrance that keeps plastic out, then walk about 1.2 kilometres to the falls, roughly 10 to 15 minutes. Water flow is lower in summer, when the rocks under the falling water are easier to reach. Drink enough water before starting the walk down.
