Thusharagiri Falls, Cascading waterfall in Kozhikode district, India

Thusharagiri Falls is a waterfall system comprising three separate tiers along the Chalippuzha River in Kozhikode. The cascades drop into natural pools surrounded by rocky cliffs and vegetation typical of the Western Ghats.

The waterfall system was shaped by centuries of river erosion cutting through the soft rock of the Western Ghats region. This geological process created the layered cascade structure visible today.

The name Thusharagiri means "snow-capped mountain", from the spray of the three falls that scatter like snow. The surrounding land is planted with rubber, cardamom, pepper and ginger, and the forest area has recorded around 45 butterfly species, among them the Travancore evening brown, thought extinct for 60 years.

The best time to visit is early morning when water flow is strongest and crowds are minimal. Access is via a hiking trail with moderate slopes that takes about an hour to complete.
