Kamakhya Temple, Hindu temple in Assam, India
Kamakhya Temple is a significant Hindu pilgrimage site, which is dedicated to the mother goddess Kamakhya.
The current structure of Kamakhya Temple was built by the Koch dynasty in 1565.
The temple is famous for its annual Ambubachi Mela, a four-day fair to mark the fertility period of the goddess.
The temple is located on the Nilachal Hill in Guwahati, and can be reached by public or private transport.
Unlike other temples, there is no image of the goddess, but a yoni or vagina, which symbolizes the goddess.
