Kamrup Rural district

Kamrup Rural is an administrative district in Lower Assam featuring flat terrain along the Brahmaputra River with extensive agricultural areas. The landscape consists mainly of rice paddies and villages scattered throughout the fertile plains.

This district was created in 2003 when the original Kamrup district was divided into two separate administrative units. The division addressed growing administrative needs as the region developed.

Religious structures and diverse communities shape the district's identity, with Hindus comprising 57.82% and Muslims 39.66% of the population.

The area is accessible by public transportation, with Guwahati serving as the main transportation hub for the region. Using this city as a base makes exploring the district straightforward.

The district is home to Dipor Bil Wildlife Sanctuary, a shallow lake that draws many bird species. This protected area serves as habitat for rare birds like the greater adjutant stork.
