Guwahati Planetarium

The Guwahati Planetarium is an astronomy education center in Assam equipped with modern projection systems that display celestial objects and space phenomena. It uses a Chronos star field projector combined with digital HD video projectors for detailed astronomical presentations.

Founded in 1994, the planetarium was the first astronomical education facility in Northeast India. Its establishment marked an important turning point for science education throughout the region.

The planetarium presents shows in Assamese and English, bringing astronomy within reach of people from the region and international guests alike. The programs are designed to welcome visitors regardless of their background knowledge.

The center offers regular sky watching sessions where visitors can observe celestial objects through telescopes with expert guidance and explanations. Plan your visit outside the monsoon season when skies are clearer for better observation.

The facility houses one of India's few hybrid projection systems, second only to New Delhi's planetarium. This advanced technology allows for highly realistic astronomical presentations that go beyond standard projections.
