The National Law School of India University is a law school in Nagarbhavi in Bengaluru, located on an expansive campus with modern buildings and teaching spaces. The library occupies its own building and holds thousands of volumes of legal texts, journals and specialist publications from several countries.
The university was founded in the late 1980s by a nationwide act, aiming to reform legal education in India. It started classes in an older college and moved to its current site in the western part of the city after a few years.
The students, usually focused on debate and publication, often organise public lecture series where known jurists and professors speak. The campus has several residence halls where students from across India live together and maintain a lively discussion culture.
Visitors reach the campus via several main roads leading from the city centre to Nagarbhavi, and find parking near the main buildings. The campus is accessible during the day, though many spaces are open only to enrolled students and staff.
The institution has won at two international moot court competitions, making it the only Indian university with this achievement. Graduates from this school work in courts, law firms and government offices across South Asia.
