Airoli Bridge

Airoli Bridge is a cable-stayed structure that spans approximately 1.1 kilometers across Mumbai's eastern suburbs, connecting the neighborhoods of Airoli and Ghansoli. The design features multiple lanes for cars, trucks, and motorcycles, supported by large steel towers.

Construction of this bridge began in the mid-1990s and was completed in 1997, marking a major step forward in Mumbai's infrastructure development. The project was needed to better connect the growing eastern suburbs with the city center.

The bridge connects two neighborhoods that were previously difficult to reach, transforming how residents move between home and work. Today, thousands of commuters use it daily to travel between residential areas and nearby business districts.

The bridge is open around the clock and has separate lanes for cars, trucks, and two-wheelers, which helps organize traffic flow. Maintenance work is typically done during off-peak hours, so drivers should expect possible delays when repairs are underway.

The design uses a system of steel cables that distribute weight evenly across the support towers, allowing the bridge to handle high daily traffic volumes. This cable design is typical of modern long-span routes in South India and shows how engineers span great distances.
