Chhatbir Zoo, Wildlife park in Mohali district, India
Chhatbir Zoo is an animal park in Mohali district that leads visitors along forested paths between animal enclosures containing mammals, birds and reptiles. The grounds are divided into several sections, including aviaries for different climate zones and areas for large and small species.
The site was established in 1977 on former hunting grounds and opened to the public as a conservation facility. Over the years the park expanded its collection and built new enclosures for its growing number of species.
The park houses animals from regions including Africa, Australia and Asia, with visitors exploring enclosures that recreate natural habitats. Families often spend the whole day here, watching children pause before aviaries and animal displays.
The grounds lie along Patiala Highway about 20 kilometers from Chandigarh and open daily except Mondays. Visitors follow paved pathways through forested sections, with comfortable footwear recommended for walking.
A walk-through aviary runs across a large section of the park and allows visitors to move among free-flying birds from India and other countries. This structure ranks among the longest of its kind in the country.
