Indralath Temple, Hindu temple in Ranipur-Jharial, India
Indralath Temple sits on a raised sandstone platform and features the Rekha Deula architectural style with a tower reaching about 70 feet high. The building contains multiple shrines and chambers that organize the space and serve different religious purposes.
Construction began in the early 10th century under the Somavamshi dynasty and employed distinctive building techniques. The builders mixed rice bran paste into the brickwork, which helped strengthen the brick structure over centuries.
The temple houses statues of several deities like Vishnu, Kartikeya, and Ganesh placed in different sections. Visitors can observe how different Hindu traditions are honored and practiced together at this location.
The temple is open to visitors and maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India. Nearby towns and cities are best reached by train connections that serve the region regularly.
This structure ranks as the tallest brick building in all of Odisha and remains the only surviving brick edifice of its kind in the entire Tel region. The temple endured centuries while similar buildings from that period have disappeared.
