Kinnerasani Wildlife Sanctuary

Kinnerasani Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area in eastern Telangana that spreads across zones of forests, grasslands, and water bodies. The landscape follows the Kinnerasani River and provides varied habitats for wildlife.

The sanctuary was established in 1977 to protect native species from increasing threats. Its creation enabled the formation of a connecting zone between several forest regions in the area.

Local communities have maintained traditional ways of living that remain visible in certain areas of the sanctuary today. These practices reflect a deep connection to the land and its natural resources.

Guided visits are best between October and March when weather conditions are pleasant and wildlife viewing opportunities are greatest. Visitors should plan their trip during these months for the best experience.

The sanctuary expanded its animal population to include black swans, which were introduced during the 2010s. This addition enriched the biodiversity alongside the already established deer and buffalo populations.
