Parmarth Niketan

Parmarth Niketan is an ashram spanning eight acres along the Ganges with gardens, temples, cottages, and meditation spaces. The grounds provide various areas for living and spiritual practice, from basic rooms to more comfortable lodgings.

The ashram was founded in 1942 by Swami Shukdevanand Saraswati and has grown into a center for spiritual teachings. Under the leadership of Swami Chidanand Saraswati, it has become known as a place for yoga and meditation practice.

The daily Ganga Aarti ceremony by the river draws hundreds of people who light oil lamps and sing traditional songs as evening falls. This ritual creates a moment when visitors and pilgrims connect through shared singing and candlelight.

The site offers basic to comfortable rooms with vegetarian meals included in guest rates. Visitors should prepare for warm and humid days and bring comfortable clothes and insect repellent.

The center hosts an international yoga festival that draws people from different countries to learn various yoga styles and meditation techniques. This event creates a place where practitioners from around the world come together and share their experiences.
