Rashtriya Indian Military College, Military boarding school in Dehradun, India
The Rashtriya Indian Military College is a military boarding school in Dehradun, located in the Doon Valley of Uttarakhand state. The campus sits at the foothills of the Himalayas and houses training grounds, classrooms, and residential halls for cadets preparing for officer careers.
The Prince of Wales founded this institution in 1922 as the first national military school in India to prepare Indian boys for officer training. After independence in 1947, the school adopted its current name.
The college implements a four-house system named after Indian rulers - Pratap, Ranjit, Shivaji, and Chandragupta - for student organization and activities.
Access to the school is limited to students and staff, though visitors may enter the grounds on special occasions. Admission tests occur twice yearly and involve written exams and medical evaluations for boys aged between 11 and 13 years.
The college published a book titled 'Valour & Wisdom: 100 Years of Unparalleled Leadership' during its centenary in 2022. This publication documents the lives and achievements of former cadets who became leaders in different fields.
