Secunderabad Clock Tower, Clock tower in Secunderabad, India
The 120-foot tall Secunderabad Clock Tower features four clock faces and stands in a landscaped park of 2.5 acres near Shivaji Nagar.
Built in 1896 during British colonial rule, the tower was inaugurated by Sir Trevor John Chichele-Plowden and received its clock mechanism from businessman Dewan Bahadur Seth.
The tower serves as a symbol of timekeeping in Secunderabad, marking hours with chimes that can be heard across the surrounding neighborhoods.
The clock tower operates with GPS technology for precise timekeeping and illuminates the area from 6 PM to 6 AM, making it visible throughout the night.
The structure survived a 2003 demolition proposal by the Municipal Corporation and underwent a complete renovation that integrated modern technology with its historical design.
